Q: When did Linda start writing?
A:
Linda has been writing since she was a child. When she was 10 years old she decided she would like to be a writer or an artist when she grew up. Like most writers though, she has held other jobs while continuing to write whenever she could find the time.

Q: Does Linda have another job besides writing?
A: Yes. She has gone back to work as an elementary school librarian. She enjoyed doing author visits and writing workshops, but she missed working with the students every day. She won't be able to do any more school author visits or writing workshops, but she'll have plenty of time to encourage her own students to read and write. It doesn't get much better than that!

Q: What does Linda like to read?
A: Mysteries and adventure stories, fantasy and science fiction, historical fiction, poetry, funny books, and books that are good read-alouds.

Q: How did Linda come up with the idea for The Time Bridge Travelers books?
A:
One day she was peering in the window of a cluttered antique shop. The story began to grow as she thought about what it might be like if the people who owned the things in the shop came back to visit. Once she began writing though, the story changed a lot. Instead of having people come from the past to visit, the main characters traveled to the past using a special spinning wheel they found in the shop. It looked a lot like the spinning wheel that sits in Linda's living room at home and is one she uses to spin wool into yarn! (It really is true that writers write what they know.)

The first and second books in The Time Bridge Travelers series are running in newspapers around the country as part of the Newspapers in Education (NIE) series. They're perfect for classroom use (when the first book ran in the Houston Chronicle, Houston ISD used it as a supplement to the summer school program).
